Janice Holsbo was born in February 1941 in Ballard and passed away in January 2025 in Edmonds. After graduating from the UW, she worked 30+ years in the Bay Area, starting out as a Med Tech for SmithKline Labs and finishing her career as the QA/Safety Manager of Northern California for Quest Diagnostic Labs. Jan had a love of the water and lived for 10 years on a 40-ft boat. She traveled and scuba dived all over the world, including Australia, South America, Asia and Europe. She especially loved Hawaii and visited every year for 40 years. Jan was a founding member of the Monterey Bay Aquarium and also supported the Seattle Aquarium. Jan was a proud member of AAUW since 1989 and supported scholarships for young women going into STEM careers. She devoted many hours to this pursuit. Jan is survived by her sister Marlene and dear family and friends.
