Michael Scott DeWitt: 1962-2024

Michael (“Mike”) DeWitt (June 1962 ­– July 2024) has passed away. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to William and Mary DeWitt, he was the oldest of three siblings.

As a young boy, Mike was active in Boy Scouts and enjoyed fishing with his dad. Later on in high school, he was a member of the cross-country running team. Mike graduated from Forest Hills Central High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1979. He was known for his quirky humor, was an excellent tennis and racquetball player, and enjoyed chess as well.

He eventually moved to the Pacific Northwest and settled in Edmonds, Washington. Mike’s career included payroll services for an environmental cleanup company and working the front desk at various hotels. He always enjoyed helping people.

He is survived by his wife Teresa DeWitt of Edmonds, Washington; mother Mary DeWitt of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters Lisa Nelson of Atlanta, Georgia, and Pamela Valencia DeWitt (husband Alex Valencia) of Rockville, Maryland; and niece Chloe Nelson. Mike is preceded in death by his father, William DeWitt.

Cremation rites have been accorded.
