Margaret was born July 21, 1948 in Hillsboro, Oregon. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Hartford and Esther Barnes, and brother, Robert P. Barnes, MD. Margaret passed May 20, 2024, in Shoreline.
She is survived by brother Richard Barnes of Lacey; her loving nieces, Caroline (David) Morris; grandnieces Avery and Izzy and grandnephews Will and Asher of Edmond, Oklahoma; Rachel (Matt) De Frees; grandnieces Anna and Emma and grandnephew Micah of Parker, Colorado; and her sister-in-law, Jean Barnes of Parker.
Margaret was raised in a loving, Christian home and was missing her parents and brother so much when she passed into the arms of Jesus. She loved animals, especially Pal, the family collie. She spent lots of time watching Animal Planet and explaining various things that the veterinarian was doing to help each of the animals needing care. She would have been an amazing veterinarian herself.
She was a member of the Edmonds United Methodist Church and adored Pastor Marta Schellberg and became special friends with lay pastors Kathy Hallum and Jan Pruatt. She loved celebrating birthdays, especially hers, and all of the holidays like Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Halloween. She had fun dressing up in costume for Halloween and looked forward to receiving gifts and cards with each celebration. She loved it when the family came to visit for the holidays.
She loved exploring “what if” conversations and came up with the funniest situations that kept family and friends laughing. Murphy’s Law was another favorite saying, and you knew when something had gone wrong in someone’s life when she’d say “Oh Murphy’s Law is at it again.” Her memory remained sharp to the end, and she’d regale you with, remember when? She had such an upbeat and sweet personality. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank Great Shepherds for their love and care of Margaret during her stay at their adult family home.
